Spicy Onion & Tomato Chutney

(Serves 3-4)

Ingredients

  • Onion-1 Medium Size
  • Tomatoes-3 Medium Size
  • Whole Red Chilies-3-4
  • Coriander Powder-2 tbsp
  • Methi Seeds-1/8 tsp
  • Curry Leaves-3-5
  • Salt-1 tsp
  • Turmeric-1/4 tsp
  • Sambhar Powder-2 tsp
  • Mustard Seeds-1/2 tsp
  • Oil-3 tbsp
Method
  1. Peel the onion and cut into big pieces.
  2. Cut tomatoes into the big pieces too.
  3. Now take a pan, put oil in and heat it.
  4. Put whole red chilies and methi seeds.
  5. Now add curry leaves and onion, cook till transparent, before it gets golden brown.
  6. Add turmeric, coriander powder and sambhar powder.
  7. Stir for few mins and add tomatoes and salt.
  8. Cook for 5 mins.
  9. Tomatoes should be just soft not over cooked.
  10. Let it cool down.
  11. Then grind it in the mixer and make a smooth mixture.
  12. Take 1 tsp of oil in a small pan and heat it.
  13. Put mustard seeds and let them crack.
  14. Add cracked mustard seeds in the chutney.
