Bharwa Karela (Stuffed Bitter Gourd)

(Around 10 Karela)

Ingredients 

  • Karela-10
  • Turmeric-1/2 tsp
  • Coriander Powder-2 tbsp
  • Besan-2 tbsp
  • Red Chili Powder-1 tsp
  • Saunf-1 tsp
  • Asafoetida (Hing)-a pinch
  • Dry Mango Powder (Amchur)-1 tsp
  • Fine Chopped Onion-2 tbsp
  • Salt-1 tsp
  • Oil-1 tbsp
  • Oil for cooking-3 tbsp
Method
  1. Peel the karela and split from top to the bottom.
  2. Take water, put salt (1/2 tsp) and karela in that and heat in the microwave for it 10 mins.
  3. After that strain the water, let it cool down.
  4. Then squeeze it.
  5. Now take a bowl put turmeric, coriander powder, besan, red chili powder, saunf, hing, dry mango powder, fine chopped onion, salt (1 tsp) and oil (1 tbsp).
  6. Mix everything properly.
  7. Stuff the mixture in the karela.
  8. Take a pan, put oil and heat it.
  9. Now put the karela and cook it in the medium heat without the lid.
  10. Cook till golden brown.
  11. It will take approx 10-15 mins to cook.
Tips
  • Put oil in the dry mixture, it helps besan to cook, otherwise besan will remain raw.
