Rajma (Kidney beans)

(Serves 4-5 people)
  • Rajma (Kidney beans)-3 cups
  • Water-8 cups
  • Chopped Onion-2 cup
  • Chopped Garlic-2 tbsp
  • Chopped Ginger-2 tbsp
  • Chopped Green Chilies-1 tbsp
  • Fresh Tomato Puree-2 cups
  • Turmeric-1 tsp
  • Coriander powder-3 tsp
  • Red Chili Powder-1 tsp
  • Garam Masala-2 tsp
  • Salt-2 -3 tsp
  • Oil-1/2 cup
  • Cilantro
Method
  1. Boil rajma (kidney beans) with water in the pressure cooker.
  2. After first whistle, low the flame and cook it for at least for 20-25 mins.
  3. Now take a pan, put oil in and heat it.
  4. Now put onions, ginger, garlic and green chilies.
  5. Fry them till they get golden brown.
  6.  Now add tomatoes, turmeric, coriander powder, red chili powder, salt and garam masala.
  7. Mix everything properly and cook till oil comes out.
  8. Now add this mixture and as much water as needed in the pressure cooker in which you have boiled rajma (kidney beans).
  9. Give one more whistle and turn the flame off.
  10. Garnish with cilantro.
